Album Info:While taking pictures in Nelspruit, South Africa I met some railroad officials from SPOORNET (South Africa Railroad). The following day I was invited to observe steam locomotive testing. SPOORNET relayed their "Horseshoe Curve to accommodate a local Oosterlijn Steam Train Safaris- that travels between the towns of Waterval Boven and Waterval Onder on regular trips and to Hazyview on Sat safaris. They were having flange trouble negotiating the tight turns. The steam engines were not fired and were aided by an electric loco. I spent most of the day there and after the first test the SPOORNET reps seemed pleased.
